It's worth getting a large scale map to track down Ardens Grafton and the Golden Cross. But once you find it (and that can take some doing - look a few miles outside Alcester or Bidford-on-Avon). you'll understand what I mean.

Not only is it a lovely pastoral spot. with great views across several counties. but the pub is a feelgood place and very friendly for all its gastro ambitions. Witness the presence of locals who just pop in just for a drink (gasp) and the sound of children in the pub garden.

The food's good too. regular bistro stuff but done well.

This is an unpretentious. easy-going place you'd make a regular date with. And you'd have a good time too.
