Cafe Soya IThe original Cafe Soya has reopened its doors fairly smartly refurbished but its many fans will be relieved to know that it's as unpretentious. bustling and down to earth as ever and very much still the brightly-lit caff. There's now a lengthy 'healthy vegetarian menu' (which includes some rather odd soy versions of meat dishes) as well as the huge list of regular pan-Asian favourites. It's great too - all freshly made and packed with flavour. Chicken with black bean sauce and beef satay both won particular praise. Not quite the bargain it once was but still fab. Unlicensed and with a 10 per cent charge on the bill for bringing your own. Only cahs and cheques accepted. no cards. See the original Birmingham Post review in full in the archive section.
