Malt ShovelIt only takes a few minutes to get to the Malt Shovel from the M40. If only hungry travellers knew. they could forget soulless motorway services and nip over here for some good. properly home-made food. The interior is traditional. with comfy sofas and attractive stained glass windows in the bar. Although the dining room is rather dated. you can't help but warm to this honest. unpretentious place. The laminated menu contains more ambition and imagination than you might expect. with perhaps confit of duck or a vegetarian tagine of chickpeas and spinach with couscous. But there's lots of traditional stuff here too. whether sausage and mash or fish and chips. Service is unobtrusive and prices more than decent.
