The Wellington was only taken over in 2002 by a London couple looking for a life change but it was garnered some serious plaudits since then. winning Herefordshire pub of the year in 2005 and best Sunday roast in the country by PubChef.

There's serious attention paid here to giving the great local produce suitable respect. Dishes show inventiveness and flair - and also some serious comfort value. Prices are on the low side for the quality too.

The village isn't one of Herefordshire's finest (which would be a very high standard to live up to) but it's pleasant enough and the drive out to this part of the world is always a pleasure. Definitely worth a visit.
