 In the middle of this most rural of counties. the Stagg Inn struck a tremendous national first - the only pub in Britain to be awarded a coveted Michelin star.

 It's a great pat on the back for the talented cooking of Roux brothers-trained chef-owner Steve Reynolds.

 His menus are grounded in the excellent produce of the region - Marches beef. lamb. marvellous cheeses. Meat and poultry is often organic and/or free range.

 Always busy - and rightly so - the place hasn't lost its pubby feel and has a great atmosphere.
