Tradition at its best, beer festival on with 5 champion cask ales, food simple home cooked fair and superb, which is what we wanted. Dogs were also welcome which was lovely. Great friendly pub, lovely staff, will come again.

Excellent food, beer and service. lovely cosy bar, very atmospheric and traditional. papers to read, can play cards, dominoes or scrabble, our dog was made very welcome as too were we. The beef in ale pie and sticky toffee pud were to die for, the whole family were very impressed. definately recommend and will return.

visited on the bank holiday weekend, simply lovely. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere, wonderful friendly service, great beer, food fresh and so tasty. Beef in ale pie best ever had and food very good value for money. Was so nice being able to take our dog in (bar area only) and he even got a biscuit treat from the barman. Will definately return and recommend. Thankyou all.

Reading other reviews I must say that I can not understand the negative comments made... this is a wonderful little gem of a pub, atmosphere, service and both food and drink excellent. Were welcomed by landlord who was very helpful with choice of cask ales. 4 of us ate, and service was warm, friendly and efficient. Had duck, home made beef Wellington, homebraised lamb shank and the home made beef in ale pie, which I must say is the best pie I've ever tasted, I even heard other diners saying the same thing. All our food was delicious, good sized portions, hot and delivered to us efficiently and with a wonderful smile from our waitress Hannah. Would whole heartedly recommend this establishment, and will most definately be returning.

Whilst on holiday in Much Wenlock, we had visited this pub for a drink and found it very friendy and a nice pint, a few days later we returned for a meal,VERY disappointing! There were 5 of us who wanted a meal, and 2 who ordered a side dish each. The communication between the bar staff and the kitchen was non-existent,we wernt told that certain dishes were unavailable until some of our order had started to arrive, service was shocking, took nearly 2 hours to feed us all, food not brilliant, attitude of 1 member of staff rather rude. Would not recommend.

A nice old school pub with a good range of beers. However, the food service left much to be desired. Due to a lack of comunication between the kitchen/bar staff (02/12/10), the news that certain dishes were unavailable, was not comunicated untill we had begun eating. Also, the head barman, was more than a little haughty and rude over the subject. That said, a refund, when asked for was quickly recieved. A little dissapointing!
