The Show Will Go on!

Following a tricky festive season for the regions pubs and restaurants due to adverse weather, now the thaw has set in, many are returning to their businesses realising that things are about to get  a whole lot worse!

The Punch Bowl Inn, Bridgnorth enjoyed a successful sell out Christmas Day, and took a well earned break Boxing Day, and returned to discover the cold snap had done more than affect their bottom line. The historic pub ankle deep in water throughout the main restaurant. “Opening the door into the dining area was such a shock” comments Adam “water was pouring through the ceilings, many of which had collapsed, and the wall paper was hanging off the walls, covering many of the wooden tables and chairs”.

Adam, who has a flat upstairs later discovered that the main cold water pipes had frozen during the cold snap, and upon thawing had burst while he was away “We called in all the staff, who were great, and spent the next two days helping remove all the furniture, and dry out what we could. We have lifted up the carpet – exposing the original stone floor, and stripped the walls, luckily the Historic bar and function suite have not been affected"

The Punch Bowl made the news just before Christmas by honouring deposits from Christmas Party cancellations for revised dates for 2011 “These events will not be affected, as they will all be in the Function Suite, and our Tribute nights are also safe, Including ABBA in January. We are just lucky we are insured, and although the loss adjusters are unable to visit until early January due to demand, we are able to carry on as normal where we can - Adam Added “I would just like to personally thank my team for their support, and our customers for their patience and understanding, and urge customers to call us to check bookings and openings”
