These are more settled times for the unfeasibly grand Welcombe Hotel just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.

Years past have seen rapid personnel changes but things have been more settled since Menzies took over.

The food fits the impressive. heavily-panelled and high-ceilinged surroundings. This is ambitious. formal. cheffy stuff. fancily presented and prepared with great care and ability. Portions are well-judged and balanced.

The dining room has even more to offer - fantastic views across formal gardens and over the golf course and beyond. You can even enjoy coffee on the terrace while watching golfers tee off into the lake.
