Saxon Mill

The Saxon Mill, Warwick is another joint venture between Pauls Salisbury and Hales and M&B is another winner.

 

Sleek, modern and comfortable, this is the sort of youthful joint that's user-friendly for all age groups and is bound to become another destination place.

With pizzas. lots of pasta and a good list of such contemporary classics as duck confit. ribeye steak and seabass. the menu hits all the right buttons.

It's another Orange Tree venture (the original is in Chadwick End - not too far away) and if you know that. you'll have a good idea of the sort of informal but quality stuff that's on offer.

Where these guys always score highly is on atmosphere. There's always a good buzz about their places and this is no exception. Service is young and matey and it will be a dream in summer with pretty tables outside overlooking the river.

I really can not see what grounds there are to complain abvout this venue, unless someone suffers a one-off poor experience. I have been approx 8 times and each time the food, service and atmosphere has been first class. On the latest occasion, my wife and I were (sort of) celebrating our anniversary enroute back to hospital where she has been receiving treatment for some ill health. The Saxon Mill and its staff helped to make a potentially difficult evening a perfectly suitable and comfortable one. I have rated this venue the max because they deserved it. First class!

Have been several times in the last 12 months, normally for a drink in the beautiful setting. Just this week actually entered the resturant for lunch, we only tried the pizzas (Picante), but one of the best I have had anywhere in the UK.

Good reputation locally but we found the Saxon Mill really disappointing - boring menu, overpriced (�3 for a tiny bowl of greens; �5 for two scoops of ice-cream with a cookie), poor communication from staff. Beautiful setting for a drink but don't bother staying for food.

Service at Saxon Mill was appalling - no milk jugs (milk for coffees served in a tumbler) and sugar brought to table in cups. Nice venue, nice food but woefully adrift in terms of service. Watch out for unspecified 10% 'service charge' followed by a request for a gratuity!!!
