The Credit Munch Menu in association with the Shropshire Star. NEW RECIPE ADDED!

The credit crunch is hitting Shropshires producers and restaurateurs as more families look to economise on their weekly food bills. Producers specialising in high quality local produce are facing and uphill struggle as consumers are opting for cut-price offers and bargain stores. This is why the Shropshire Star is launching this campaign. On board are some of the regions top restaurants producers and of course us! Who have teamed together to bring you some quality yet low cost meal ideas. The scheme aims to provide readers with low cost but high quality meal ideas and recipes, enabling them to create gourmet dinners at home for pennies.  Most of the recipes work out at less than £1 per person.
Ainsley Harriott of Ready Steady Cook fame is also backing the campaign, He said: “Ready Steady Cook is all about giving people a little inspiration, so that they create their own dishes using simple ingredients. We aim to create tasty dishes on a budget and the results are usually amazing. It’s great news that the Shropshire Star is encouraging its readers to do something similar, and if the Credit Munch campaign encourages more people to support their local producers, then so much the better.”

The first recipe comes from Stuart Phillips at the two AA Rosette Hundred House in Norton, His recipe for Fidget Pie works out at less than 85p per person!
