Restaurant opening in Ironbridge

The White Hart is a much loved Ironbridge waterfront pub restaurant with rooms in Shropshire, and is currently undergoing a top to toe refurbishment and manpower investment drive, under the watchful eye and tutorledge of pub and restaurant operator Alex Nicoll.

Originally developed from a run down pub in 2004 by Alex Nicoll and team, 10 years on, he has recently been brought in and taken over again to bring the site up to date in a new guise as cafe bar and bistro, bringing his broad skills, experience and relaxed style he has applied to much success in recent year, during transforming food led pubs across the UK to profit in recent years for a UK PLC.

“You must eat at The White Hart” enthuses Alex “We are currently developing the White Hart into a cafe bar by day and bar and bistro bar night, and our new chef is very exciting – sadly a rarity in this industry is a female Head Chef, and we discovered local Chef Katie Bradley almost by accident, but we have been delighted by the results so far – the new menus are receiving great feedback, in readiness for our full opening after our launch night mid April”

The new What Hart development includes a light refurbishment downstairs introducing new contemporary décor, alongside investment in kitchen equipment, and new team both front of house and in the kitchen, eventually expecting to employ up to 17 people, and over £35,000 investment in the waterfont.

“It’s great to be working down the waterfront in Ironbridge again” Comments Alex ”we had an amazing time at the turn of the Millennium developing the area, it was exciting times, and the waterfront was transformed. Its refreshing to be able to return with a fresh pair of eyes and almost 10 years more experience in the hospitality industry – Ironbridge is now undergoing a bit of a dining renaissance again, with some exciting new independent businesses along the front, and no big brands which makes Ironbridge even more unique, avoiding the current trend of the homogenisation of the high streets with the big brands – The Waterfront is once again real destination for foodies.

Shropshire traditions remains at the White Hart, such as real ale, and great value local produce as a mainstay of our menus – Claire is even making her own sourdough bread and we are looking at food themed evenings with local producers.”

New menus dishes will include pulled sticky pork with homemade fennel and spring onion relish, slow roast shoulder of lamb with rosemary dauphinios potato, purple sprouting broccoli red wine reduction. as well as bistro style dishes, freshly prepared premium salads, hand curt chips, and an extensive wine list to relax whilst over looking the Waterfront “We have a lovely courtyard outside the front which we are going to also update and it’s a real sun trap in the Spring and Summer so we hope to repeat last years Continental weather to help match our menus”
